Telriv, you stated that you removed the fuel pump push rod when you were testing it on the stand. Did you plug the bushing the rod goes through? If not you have a fairly healthy oil pressure loss with the rod removed! There is a hole through the bushing straight into the main oil galley.

It turns out the (offshore) timing gear was the problem all along. Replaced it with an aluminum gear. NO MORE RATTLING NOISE!!!
