If he's used to douglas fir or ponderosa studs and our crappy balsa-like Southern white and yellow pine have invaded your market, then yes, new trade/craft/skill training is required.

I was born and raised in the Pacific NW and we just assume everything is a close grained, nail holdin' doug fir. We will have a company meeting on Monday morning to discuss the balsa wood infiltration. Thanks!.

I did on an 8n , first I heated it and melted candle wax around it, the washer is to prevent welding it to the block, use a nut about the same size as the bolt,and weld it, let it cool a little while,, mine came out easy, the wax had gone to the bottom of the threads
