Ethanol Free

Being an avid hot rodder for years, I have seen the negative effects of ethanol on the entire fuel system. From tank to carb, it promotes rot and decay. It also lowers the boiling point of fuel. If you can't find ethanol free fuel you can at least buy an additive to negate the harmful effects of the ethanol. Lucas makes a good one. Lucky for me I have a Sunoco one block from home that sells ethanol free.

Wife and me went out to a wedding in Charles City, IOWA about three-years ago. Could never imagine how much CORN there was until then. Those people literally had CORN growing in every nook and cranny of ground. There were micro size CORN patches being grown as residential home front lawns and along side of garages. In IOWA, there is no doubt that CORN is king. Think that Iowa people actually eat all that CORN?

Sometimes wonder that if the earliest Presidential political voting events were held in say, the state of MAINE, then we'd have liquefied POTATO or perhaps LOBSTER in our fuel tanks. How about WISCONSIN for the first voting, then gasoline would no doubt contain CHEESE. Maybe a solution is to have politicians kick off their national election nonsense from TEXAS or OKLAHOMA so that oil petroleum products could be used for making gasoline. Now that would be radical!

It may work, but if non-ethanol fuel is available why not use it. When you ad the price of the additive you are close to the price of pure gas. I am not a chemist but as I understand it part of the problem is that ethanol absorbs water, which does the damage.

If I could get it I would for sure but the closest place that sells it to me in the Columbus area us about 20 miles away I'd burn 3 gallons just to fill it up.

Found this WEB site link and using it, located a gas station offering Ethanol FREE gasoline about 12-miles from here. Called the phone number listed and the person spoke with said that "YES" they do sell Ethanol FREE gasoline.

Will check this out within the next couple of days.

Been using , as some say "crap" gas since I got the car. The only problem I've had is twice I've had to dis-assemble the elec fuel shut off valve and clean (sticks). In all the cases where people are having trouble I believe there's something else that's wrong with their cars. JMO

Yep, I saw something on the news programs lately about corn and corn sweeteners and what they are doing to us. No wonder it's so hard to loose weight.

Corn on the cob sure tastes good though.

My 100% station is 12 miles away, I just use my modern car and grab 10 gals at a time with 2 5gal tanks... Welll worth the extra effort...

I do the same as Mike, and that reminds me that I'd better through the cans in my car before I head out today.
Tuesday mornings are my shopping day and I make the rounds because it's senior discount day at the second hand stores. Once in a great while a Model A tool shows up.

Mike, I've thought of doing this too but I find it hard to get the gas into the tank from 5 gallon cans......how do you accomplish that without spilling gas everywhere?

I usually pour it into a 2 gallon container, then into a funnel in the Model A. With my Studebaker the gas door opens up, so it's kind of in the way of many funnels, so I'll set the 5 gallon can higher up and syphon the gas into the car.

Made in the USA by Flo tool, it fit standard Propane and most Gasoline cans like a glove... No worries about either moving around.... ~ $10 per at walmart.

Also, if you spill a bit, the carrier will hold it.... Even if I sill had my old F150, I wish I knew of them then...

Years ago when the crap gas first came out in this area, it was used in the winter only. I drove a S10 pickup to work which was 48 miles one way. In the winter using this gas my milage went down about 10%. In the spring when they switch back it went back up 10%.

To get fuel into the cowl tan on probably any Model A Ford with a visor, a person really needs to transfer the gasoline into a smaller couple of gallon or so size tank. With the sloshing around weight, it is also generally much easier to handle the smaller size gasoline container.

Why not drive the car there? 12 miles isn't that far. I put about 60 miles on mine early Saturday morning before it got over 105 outside and it was glorious.
