No microwave, no internet, no cell phones, no home phones! no heat no air conditioning how easy we have it now and how hard life used to be......and think of the generations before them!

Thanks for the sobering reminder that we should be thankful for so much today, thankful to those who went before us.
I was born in 1938 and clearly remember my GGF who was born in 1856. He was an orphan, grew up in farm foster homes, had little schooling, was a farmer laborer all his life, never owned a home, never owned or drove a car, always had to rent an apartment. His first wife died at age 24 leaving him to raise their 3 children .... and he did an admirable job of it. At age 93 he died in an "Old Men's Home". Four old men from the home attended his funeral, stood before his body and proclaimed in unison "We'll meet you in heaven Dan". Where is that quality and kind of strength and devotion today ? |

Really great to see in color. But anyone notice the two guys in the background of picture 13 look like they're about to fight.

Redneck, thank you! We don't realize sometimes how simple but hard life was back then.Today we have many time saving gadgets and appliances that make life better,
medical advances to cure ills but life is still tough for many Americans in it's own way ! |

The men and women of that time truly "Earned a living". I like how most the most people dressed up to go to town or functions. Today people show up at grocery stores in their pajamas. We definitely lost that nowadays.

....And to think, the people and the culture represented in those photos beat Nazi Germany AND the Japanese! There is somthing deeply special about this Country that is hard to describe but is no doubt felt by many.
