Mine was converted to the newer style at some point in it's life. It is going back to the original.

Are there any books out there that have inspection, service, and repair information on the early split system. Mine still works fine and I would like to know how to keep it that way.
Thanks, Supergnat |

Something that hasn't been mentioned here, but probably should be is...
What caused the dogbone to fall out in the first place? I consider myself to be reasonably familiar with this system and the only reason I could see for the dogbone to completely fall out would be if there were a component failure (or something severely worn or mis-adjusted) elsewhere. For this to happen it would almost take one of the split halves to move outward, or for one side to go full forward and the opposite side to full rearward. Or, possibly the dogbone itself was damaged at some point in it's life and repaired improperly...??? If there is a problem somewhere other than the split cross shafts, then that problem will still exist even if the car is changed over to the later style single cross shaft and the brakes still won't work right.
