Bad guy was driving I believe a 57 Merc Covertible. It rolled and caught on fire, but the car burning was a 53 Merc convertible, not the 57 |

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
MGM made some interesting color shorts. One series was the MGM Travel Talks.
Romantic Nevada / MGM Travel Talks (1943). Great color street scenes of Reno during WWII. Lots of old cars. Here are the Fords: 1939 Ford DeLuxe Fordor 1932 Ford Pick Up 1940 Ford Convertible 1939 Ford Standard Coupe 1940 Ford DeLuxe Coupe 1938 Ford DeLuxe Tudor 1939 Ford Standard Coupe 1935 Ford 5W Coupe 1941 Ford (Model Unknown) 1936 Ford (Model Unknown) TM |

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
I knew the moment I looked at this 1937 Ford Phaeton there was something odd about it in Masie Goes to Reno (1944).
The car was equipped with some weird trim / cladding from the grille to the rear end. Capital U ugly. The car is also equipped with turn signals on the fenders and is painted camouflage (the film was made during WWII). Wow. But look at the instrument panel. The steering wheel is on the left side and so is the glove box. I would be really impressed if there was a glove box on the right side too. I think that this car was probably a right-hand drive 1937 Ford that was reconverted to left-hand drive. 1936 Ford 5W Coupe 1942 Ford Fordor 1942 Mercury Convertible 1937 Ford Phaeton Here are some photos of the 1937 Phaeton. |

Re: V-8 Fords on Film
I don't know the name of the movie, that this came from, but it is an Abbott & Costello movie clip of about 1941.
You can see a 1935 Ford 2-door fastback and a Ford Station Wagon. I don't know the year of the wagon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ecJ_JLRec4&feature=context-vrec MIKE Last edited by FL&WVMIKE; 09-04-2012 at 09:36 PM. |

Yea, that Plymouth is beautiful ! I've never been fortunate enough to own a Woodie, so I don't know too much about them. In an earlier post called. "Suicide Doors", Mr Texas talks of the rear suicide doors on his 1936 model. You guys are getting me confused ! MIKE Last edited by FL&WVMIKE; 09-04-2012 at 10:05 PM. |
