The window opening frame molding was a poor attempt to copy the NOMAD.

I wonder why the Parklane wagons didn't have the smaller Fairlane crest and Fairlane script on the hood ? The rest of the car had Fairlane trim, including the interior.

This is the Cover of the Sales Brochure for the 1956 Ford Station Wagons. As you can see, the Ford Badge on the Hood is the large one, as was fitted top the Ford Customline series.

I know that this is off the topic of Two-Door Station Wagons, but as scicala has raised the question about the large hood badge on these wagons, I thought that I would add these pictures of an Australian 1957 Ford Customline. This is the car that Ford Australia sold for 1957, as they didn't want to go to all the expense of tooling up for the all new 1957 Fords. These Australian 1957 Fords were called Customline, and not Fairlane, as you can see on the Plastic Trim on the Trunk Lid. They also had the large Ford Badge on the hood, and added Chromed Headlight Rims (yuk) and a giant V8 Badge in the centre of the Grills. This folks, is the only 1957 Ford that was offered for sale in Australia. For 1958, the same body was used, but with the Grille from a 1955 Meteor and Side Trim from the 1956 Meteor. Thus ends the History Lesson.

Further to my pictures of what Ford Australia offered here, the Australian 1957 Ford Customline. The above picture is of the same year Ford Mainline Ute. The first thing that you notice is that the Utes got body coloured Headlight Rimes (nice) and the small Ford Crest that was fitted to the 1956 Ford Fairlanes. |Ford Australia only offered these two body styles, the Sedan and Ute. The Ute was the only local model to come with the small Ford Crest in the centre of the Hood. You will also notice that the Mainline Ute retained the 1956 Ford Trim, while the "new" Customline had a totally new Chrome Hood Casting. Question:- How come the correct small Ford Crest and painted Headlight Rims were only standard on the Mainline Utes?

Very nice 1959 Ford Two Door Ranch Wagon. That Chrome Trim behind the rear wheels is not standard on any model 1959 Ford Station Wagons It was standard only the 1959 Fairlane 500 and Galaxie Sedans, Coupes and Convertibles, never ever on any model 1959 Ford Station Wagon.
