Polish the rusty tooth with a wire wheel and look for pit's. Then make a decesion based on what you see. Really hard to tell until that point as it may be really pitted or near perfect under the rust. Rod

It all depends on how much of the "hard face" is rusted and to what depth. We need a good photo to give you a credible answer. All the info to give you an answer without seeing it, would take typing half the day.

It might also depend on how you plan to use your car after you put it back on the road. How many thousand miles per year?

The tooth is really pitted, and I have a new idea. I was just offered a 32 rearend with hydraulic brakes. I am putting a model b engine and B tranny in a model a frame and also have a O.D. driveshaft as well. This would pretty much make the whole drive train 32. Any opinions? Can I still have mechanical brakes for front end or go hydraulic?

Mix 10% Molykote, M Gear Oil Additive with the new gear oil before filling the axle assembly. The Molybdenum DiSulphide will heal the pitted teeth and prevent metal to metal contact. M has saved many gearboxes from failure while improving efficiency (gas mileage) and removing heat. In a transmission, gear shifting is smoother and the Moly will keep the roller bearings free running.

130-A = 28-E30 DeLuxe Delivery according to the 32 parts book.

Do you put this additive in all your gear boxes?
