A bustling circa 1930 street scene in downtown St. Louis, Missouri
This busy street scene shows us downtown St. Louis, Missouri, taken from Seventh, looking south on Locust St. We can see an assortment of late 1920s automobiles, a screened-sided truck is seen in the bottom middle of the photo and just ahead of it is a horse-drawn wagon. On The Old Motor we have enlargements where you can see it in great detail. Last edited by t-head; 11-21-2012 at 07:53 AM. |

Re: A bustling circa 1930 street scene in downtown St. Louis, Missouri
The first car on the left looks like a Buick, the second one is a 29/30 Chevrolet, the third one looks like a Model-A with a Sportlite. The parked cars on the left look like a Hudson then another Model-A. But where are all the sidemounts, stone guards and step plates????

-and where are all the open cars? BTW notice the street car tracks? Dad said that tracks often had another set of tracks to branch off the main line, like railroads, and the rails at the point of turn tapered down to a sharp point that used to tear these skinny tires to shreads, if you had the misfortune to hit it.
