Default Paint touchup question

Sponsored Links (Register now to hide all advertisements)
I have done a little spray gun painting touchup, but I am wondering if I am doing it correctly. I am using PPG Concept single stage paint. What I have been doing is after getting the area smoothed and ready to touchup, I mask off the area slightly larger than where I sanded (scuffed) the area to respray. That means I paint on some unsanded or unscuffed existing paint. I am concerned that the paint on the unscuffed existing paint will not bond well. I am wondering if I should light scuff (3M extra fine pad) all the area within the mask off area. I then colorsand and buff after letting the paint dry for a couple days. Any pointers would be appreciated.
