counter balanced crank
Is there a supplier in the Model A Kingdom offering a counter balanced crank? Years ago, there was an engine shop in Whittier California offering such. The owner died a number of years ago and the place went out of business.

Re: counter balanced crank
SCAT also makes one and there is at least one vendor selling the weights and will install them to the crank for a reasonable fee (the name escapes me at the moment0

Re: counter balanced crank
Steve Becker at Burt's puts balanced cranks in his rebuilds, I suspect that if you called him he could give you a referral.

Re: counter balanced crank
I have a Model B crank that is counterweighted. You cut down the mains to Model A size and use a det of B rods..

Re: counter balanced crank
Apologies, it’s Dan4Banger that I have been trying to point you to (last night I said that it was DanFast (it was late, I was tired, oops). I think that he can provide anything you want in the area of a balanced crank

Re: counter balanced crank
Tom,
The Burlington counterweighted crankshaft is an option also. I have used a number of them in the past. The link follows: https://burlingtoncrankshaft.com/ Good Day! |

Re: counter balanced crank
If you can possibly afford it, call Snyders and buy the Scat crankshaft, and rods. Not everyone that supposedly has a super good reputation knows what they are actually doing. (Don't ask me how I know this).

Re: counter balanced crank
It should be a punishable crime to grind a C crank down to 1.625 A crank size
I have put C cranks in A motors with inserts and a 1.850 main dia This allows for drilling to oil the rods and not comprising strength J

Re: counter balanced crank
So a Model A block and main bearing caps have enough “meat” to be bored out to accept a “C” crank?

The B/C crank has 2.0 mains If reduced to 1.85 it will fit The main caps 1 and 2 should be replaced The rear main of a later A has enough material The bearing inserts from a Saturn rod bearing work John

Re: counter balanced crank
Why don’t you use the link that Dave thoughtfully provided and learn for yourself? I don’t think that Dan is trying to sell you one.
