Overdrive Project
I yanked a Laycock Type D Overdrive out of a 64 Volvo P1800 that was rotting in a field for 20+ years.
Not a later model Type J. Before I even THINK about Model A Overdrive Project and the zillion questions that come with it: Is there anyone in Northern Cal that can check this unit out to see if it's even worth messing with, or rebuild it if it is? Thanks, Clem Sometimes one man's junk...is another man's junk. |

Re: Overdrive Project
Hello Clem,
You would better off if you can find a type J over drive, (parts for the D may not be available) they became bullet proof after the initial problems they had when first introduced, I have repaired many of them, I do have the shop repair books for them but would need to be unburied from storage if anyone should need them. Re: Overdrive Project
Thanks for the leads.
Yep, I knew when I pulled this unit I was wishing it was a Type J OD, but hey, some guy said "take any parts you want" so I did, and the rest of the P1800 was broken or junk. Thanks |
