In need of new radiator. Old radiator beyond repair.
Received bad news today from the radiator shop today. Was notified that after being cleaned and pressure tested that the old radiator has a crack and several holes and will cost me $300-400 to repair. Checked Snyder's and Brassworks for a new radiator and I'm looking at $500-600. Anyone have a radiator for a 1930 for sale or know of anyone selling one at a fraction of the cost? Any other ideas are also welcomed. Thanks in advance.

if you buy a Brassworks or Bergs your troubles are over for good. A used radiator can and often does bring nasty surprises and not worth taking the chance on. Even repairing your old one has no guarantee. Good luck, Wayne

Be very careful going the used route.. Ck out bergs radiator also...
Like oil, a good radiator is cheaper than a new engine |

Bert's in Denver have good rebuilt radiators. May want to check with them.

Gary Bergbower does a great job and is an old line Radiator Family. It will be the last one you have to buy. I have 6 of his and never a problem. He can be reached at 618-231-3507.

Thank you all for your input. Local radiator shop highly suggested BrassWorks as well as others on this forum, so I bit the bullet and ordered one. Looking forward to receiving the radiator so I can finally wake her up from her 10 year nap.

hate to say it but, I was lucky enough to pick up a Radiator last fall at Hershey, guy wanted $25 and I talked him down to $20 looks great and holds water. I was very lucky! There was others for $200 250 or so, you are within driving distance and the meet is only a few short weeks away.

Re: In need of new radiator. Old radiator beyond repair.
I have retracted my order with BW and I'm going with the highly recommended Berg's. My apologies for sounding like a hard headed newbie. Thank you all once again for preventing me from making a mistake.

It would not have been a mistake! Even the professional radiator shop recommended Brassworks. Wayne

If you can get a new one I would do it. I went the used one on two occasions and they worked well in town but when I got on the highway they caused me to overheat because the flow rate was impaired. Bob

Re: In need of new radiator. Old radiator beyond repair.
The radiator shop might have killed it with the pressure test. Never have an old A radiator pressure tested. They weren't designed for it in the first place and now they're 80 years older and more fragile. I have also heard good about Bergs
