What am I mising on the roof?
Hey fellers,
My '30 Sedan has an odd front edge and it looks like something is either missing or torn away. Can someone tell me what belongs here to finish the front edge? Thanks, Jim

Re: What am I mising on the roof?
It looks loke your front roof molding is missing and your roof has shrunk and pulled back. You will probably need a new roof plus the molding pieces.

Re: What am I mising on the roof?
So there definitely a molding piece missing, huh? Is this roof piece available from suppliers? I've kinda looked around but without any success.

Great- thanks for posting the pic!
Okay, so it nails and then gets peened down to seal up the gap, hmmm.

it will need to be bent around the curvatures on the sides. it ends right at the drip gutters

Re: What am I mising on the roof?
I cut the ends at an angle to match the rain gutters after I bent the curves in the aluminum. I predrilled the oak header, nailed the aluminum the folded it together with a hammer and wood block. Some kind of sealer would probably be a good idea for the nail holes.
As Mitch said, make sure the header wood is good. Since the trim is gone and the roof covering has shrunk, I'm thinking the wood might also be bad. |
