Windshield restoration
The archive assembly print for the windshield states 'Paint before assembling to the upper hinge'. Does that suggest that the screws in the corners were painted? Was the glass and rubber strips already in? Also the print states 'the upper hinge is held in place by closing the ends so that end play is eliminated allowing free hinge action'. Were there chips or scratches on the upper hinge ends from that process?

Re: Windshield restoration
The top of the frame was attached to the bottom when painted and I have to assume the screws were loosely in place so they didn't separate. Later the glass was installed as were the seals, and the wiper when applicable. I don't know what they used to pinch the tubular ends of the hinge.
