Happened just in time for you to buy yourself a needed Christmas gift. A & L have an excellent quality Sparton and Stewart Warner reproduction. They also sell the brackets if your horn can be saved. Wayne

Re: Horn fell off 31 Ford
One of the things everyone should do, after they buy a driving Model A, is spend a couple hours and check and tighten every bolt on it. I have seen everything fall these cars over the years. Be glad it was the horn, and not a pitman arm, wheel, brake drum or ?....

Re: Horn fell off 31 Ford
Yep, Had a back wheel fall off a tudor back in 64. We had just stopped at an intersection and I asked my cousin which way he wanted to go. Just as I asked , the left rear wheel fell off. The lug holes in the wheel were worn just right to slip over the lug nuts. The cousin still tells the story often and has a good laugh .

That is one relatively thick piece of steel to crack like that. This is the first time I ever heard of this happening, original or reproduction.

Re: Horn fell off 31 Ford
I was told that my 29 had an original horn bracket when I bought it and that I should save that for judging if I intended to do that with the car, but for driving I was advised to buy a new bracket from Brattons or Snyders, as theirs are the 30/31 version which is built with a wider piece of metal and won't crack and allow the horn to fall off. I bought and removed the original which appeared to be weaker. New one has been on there for over 25 years now. The air mazed, I ran over, got a new one and wired a "safety" for incase it detached. Today I gave it to a friend as I had removed it fearing fire if I had a carb leak. Engine pans will keep most of the rocks and birds out of the airflow. I think that was about all the airmaze did.
