What type of spray glue to use on panel boards

On my friends 31 we are going to install upholstery panel boards that fit around the quarters and back window. We have the original boards and will be using new material from Classique. I would like to find a spray contact cement that has a very fine spray and will not bleed through material. Some of these spray cans spray out big globs of glue and I think that will cause hills of glue so would like to find a fine spray. What have you guys used and did it spray OK. Thanks

I use 3M Super 77 or 3M High Strength 90, whichever I happen to have on hand. The secret is to clean off the tip with acetone frequently, otherwise it gets gooed up (technical term) and the spray gets gloppy (another technical term).

Just my opinion, but from personal experiences I think you will regret using either of those. If you have ever looked at a Model-A Trim Panel such as the Door or Kick panel and seen delamination or bubbles under the material, it is almost a sure-fire bet that '77' was used. IMO it will be much better if you use Weldwood's Landau & Trim Contact Adhesive. It can be brushed on, -or sprayed

Totally agree. Been using Weldwood since Moses left Egypt in a Model "A". It's the real deal.

I don't use any spray can contact adhesives. Most are crap. The nozzle is not good for adhesives and the stuff is too thin to work well. The Weldwood is good stuff. I either use a brush or a cheap syphon type spray gun with no thinning. I don't do upholstery for a living so I generally clean the gun between jobs. If a person uses the stuff regularly then gun cleaning isn't an issue. Clean the nozzle if it gets crusty and it's good to go.
