Hello, I am new to this site and a novice on old Ford’s. I’m hoping someone can help me with a couple things:
- I inherited this car a couple of years ago. Best I can tell, it’s a 1933 Ford Model B Tudor Deluxe. That is how it’s titled, but I can’t seem to verify that by the serial number (VIN)…..B5206288. Can anyone help me verify the serial number? - It doesn’t seem to be pumping fuel, which got me looking at the fuel pump. From what I’m seeing, this doesn’t seem to the correct fuel pump? (See pic) Can someone help me verify what is the correct fuel pump? I’ve attached pics of the car, serial number, engine, and fuel pump. I would appreciate any help I can get! Kevin PHP Code:

Kevin
Your engine/frame number of B5206288 would put your engine/transmission assembly in April of 1933 and Domestically, there were 79 1933 Tudor Deluxe sedans made with a 4cyl engine. Quite an unusual 33 you have. As others have mentioned, "technically" you have an aftermarket type fuel pump/have the incorrect fuel pump that the car "originally" came with, Deuce Lover as well as Mercman (A perfectly detailed 33 4cyl engine) have posted the "correct" fuel pump pictures for you. I own a 1933 4 Door with a 4cyl so I am very happy to see another 33 4cyl alive and kicking. Welcome and thank you for sharing. As you will find, the 33/34's with 4cyl's are few and far between.....most survivors have been converted to V8's over the years. Last edited by rockfla; 01-22-2026 at 07:49 AM. |

I believe you can rebuild the fuel pump to help get the car going. Third Gen Auto in Tenn should have the rebuilding kit (same as the V8 pump) for 48 Ford also get the glass fuel bowl corkpreem gasket. They may have another fuel line to the Carb. and NAPA has a paper filter that will work in the glass bowl #3039

As for the "proper" fuel line, Dave Renner at Renner's Corner will have the 'proper" pre-bent copper fuel line - Rennerscorner.com (743) 428-8424. Also Dave will have ALL the proper re-build parts for the original fuel pump as well as your carburetor IF you need that. IF you post a picture of your Carburetor, there are a "few" different versions of the Zenith from 1932 to "post" 1934, it will help to know which one you have for the correct parts.
NOT to step on TerryOH's toes, as he mentioned Michael at Third Gen Automotive in McMinnville TN is always a great source to have close at hand and always warrants a call for your needs. Last edited by rockfla; 01-22-2026 at 08:27 AM. |

My '32 Model B is running on a Charlie rebuild also. I had another fuel pump on the '32 when I bought it,runs fine with it also but looks a little different and I think it is stamped or marked Made in England. David Renner parts are also great and he usually sends instructions with his parts.

Well, it looks like I came to the right place! Thank you very much to all for the assistance and for the comments on the car! I will probably get a rebuild kit for the current fuel pump while I look for a correct fuel pump and lines.
I can’t believe this car is one of 79! That’s amazing to me. Rockfla, can you point me to the reference for that, please? I’ve also added some pics of the interior and carb. Please excuse the picture quality. Not the best lighting out in the barn these days. |

Kevin To preface my post, this site is more for the "purist" side of the the Early Ford V8 crowd SO many who post here have the "eye" OR "looking glass" and comments based on "As Henry Ford Built It" SO comments about your car are NOT to degrade of minimize your car BUT to provide you information about how it was "originally" made and outfitted THUS "IF" you are wanting to get it back to "Early Ford V8 Club of America" judging standards THEN the information provided is for that purpose.....SO......As Deuce Lover pointed out, your car was "originally" a 1933 Standard Two Door (not a Deluxe) THUS domestic production for your car is 2875 units, this information is in a book titled "The Early Ford V8: As Henry Built It" by Francis & DeAngilis. As Deuce Lover also pointed out, many items have been changed to make it a DeLuxe. No real harm, no real foul OTHER THAN they would be points deductions under judging standards of the EFV8 Club judging. ALSO not mentioned are the bumper guards, grill hoop guard are ALSO NOT original thus NOT correct for 1933's. It is hard to tell from the picture and angle of the picture BUT your bumper appears to be 1934, IF the bumper guards tilt inward at the tops, then your bumper is the correct 1933, IF the bumper guards are standing straight then your bumper is a 1934, they appear straight to me?? You can ALSO measure the bumper bolt center to center measurement, 1933 is 22" and 1934 is 26" center to center. As Deuce Lover mentioned about the absence of a ash tray, another telltale sign your car is a 1933 Standard is the speedometer is a 3 digit tripometer, Deluxe is a 4 digit tripometer (see pic 1). ALSO, and again, IF getting it to "original" standards, your carburetor is a 1932...IT will work perfectly.....and to the "casual eye" no difference in the correct 1933/34 Zenith BUT one of the first "noticeable" signs is the "raised Zenith" cast in the float bowl, which indicates it being a 1932.....1933 & 34's had an "indented Zenith" cast in the float bowl and a few other very minor changes (see pic#2 Middle carb). Thanks for sharing your car with Us. Hope this all helps you? Last edited by rockfla; 01-27-2026 at 08:32 AM. |
