33 Tudor woodgraining
Anyone do quality woodgraining on a 33 Tudor for $12-$1400? Dash and window garnishes.

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
If you do a search in the red tool bar at the top "search this forum" of 33 wood graining, there have been several post about the subject (33 & 34) as well as some "original" pieces and pictures posted of them. Honest Charlies in Nashville (?) is one company that does it, I am sure a search will also yield others as well.

Jonathan at Honest Charlies. Great to work with. SUPER quality at a reasonable cost.
He's done numerous "sets" for me. I have been thrilled each and every time.

If I remember correctly, Honest Charley's is in Chatanooga, Tn. along with Coker Tire. Charley Coker is/was the owner.

Another alternative is hydro dipping. It costs less than custom graining and looks great as well. I had my dash done on my 36 woody dipped. I grained my 49 Ford dash, trim and liftgate fiddleback maple, my 41 dash walnut. I also bought two shoebox dashes for wall hangers and did them, a 49 and a 51 two tone. You have to buy the paint from grainit as most paint is not compatible with their inks. They sell it in spray cans. It would help if you had a spray rig to spray the automotive clear coat.

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
Honest Charley quoted $1000 for the dash and $200 for each additional piece. Just an estimate as it’s $85 per hour. That’s approximately $2400 for my 33, dash and 7 pieces.

Try whizzernick here on FordBarn. He currently is doing(I think) a 33,3W dash and molldings for a FordBarn member.
On another note if you do all the prep work( like sandblast and epoxy prime correctly) you might save some money. |

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
I would never work on someone's item that they prepared. I doubt Jonathan would either.

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
Unless that happened on the past week, I'd say they are up and running.
Jonathan worked with me one on one for quite some time to get the '40 Ford finishes duplicated to exacting standards. I'd witnessed so many "almost correct" on the concourse that well, "almost" isn't good enough, not for me. I can't say enough good about my numerous experiences with him.

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
I don't know what kind of talent you have but it might be worth checking out Norm Peterson's perfectwoodgrain.com. I don't know about this but I bought the course and I thought I would give it a go. I'm interested in a mahogany burl kind of thing. If it turns out great, I'll post it on the Barn. If it turns out like crap you'll never hear from me again!

Re: 33 Tudor woodgraining
Couple of wall hangers, top is 46-48 ford in maple, bottom is a 41 dash I did in burl just to try it.
