Given the context, and I’ve seen the original post on the HAMB, I think it refers to the hot rod tendencies of us hoodlums on the HAMB. And K is more of a restoration guy, a great help to those looking for the right part numbers and info.

While I have my weak points, I’ve never put anything but a Ford in a Ford.

Now, if I came across an early hemi ………

Just bought a 1956 Sunliner, my 2nd dive into the 50's Fords after selling my 56 Victoria. Current set up is a 312 and stock automatic transmission. Currently, the trans leaks pretty bad. I'm not talking a puddle here or there. Over night, it creates a stream that runs almost to the back of the car. I'm still digging into where the trans is leaking exactly. If I end up having to pull it to seal it up, I'm tempted to make an upgrade while it's out.

Right now, I'm looking at something like the AOD. I love going on cruises that usually are around 2 hours down the highway.

My Victoria had the 3 speed OD with a highway gear in the rear, and I absolutely loved it.

Just currious what trans upgrade options are out there, and how much work goes into a swap?

KULTULZ is retaining water, it is an old guy thing.

Seriously, it pains me to see a perfect car being modified in this manner (and it will get worse as it goes along).

No.1 - It ain't none of my business. It is his car and duckets.

No.2 - I have no business being over there as it raises my blood pressure.

I am not so much restoration as !!! DO NO HARM !!!.

If you are going to modify a car of this quality, considerations should be taken to be able to return it to it's original condition at some point. Once you butcher one, it is going to be difficult and expensive to bring it back down to Earth.

Now pumping up the drive-train as long as the modification(s) appears as OEM is fully understood and appreciated ...

You can't run shine in some of the builds you see over there. One has to be practical ...

I agree, that car is beautiful as is and should be left alone. We need more stock or restored to stock classics and antiques for those of us just starting to work on these cars.

That 56 sure is great lookin. I parkied one year at Good-Guys Nationals in Columbus, and the guy parked his next to me. His had a 351 transpant. It was beautiful. They Good-Guys staff took a photo of it, and put it in their magazine. The owner sure was a piece of work though...

Well, actually that is OK (to me) if the conversion(s) was done neatly, old parts saved and the car can be returned to OEM fairly easily.

It's like meeting a pretty girl and you think it might go somewhere. You show up for the 2nd date and now she is sporting tats, piercings and blue hair ...

Only thing to do on that car is put a white top on it and change the horn ring. Sure hope all that stuff is staying with the car and not ending up on craigslist or facespace.

The car has a correct complete SPARE WHEEL CARRIER and the owner states that will be the first thing to go. I can understand that. It has to be worth a fortune.

The owner stated he came across the car as a result of the owner spending two years and who knows how many duckets bringing it to this state and then passed. His widow sold the car.

Can you imagine the amount of devotion and love it took to turn something like this out and then not being able to enjoy it?

But as I said, it is none of my business. In fact, I need to mind my own business.

A couple of things I did to the Victoria and I liked were:

KYB Gas-a-just shocks
Stop em and drop em Granada disc brake conversion
Glass pack mufflers!
Car seat anchors

Things I'd also like to do are:

Diamond Back radials
4 Barrel intake and Holley Sniper EFI
Upgraded sway bars
Air Conditioning
Remove continental kit

- IMO -

There is a better way to convert to disc. The GRANADA SWAP calls for spindle replacement which will affect steering geometry.

It also uses a sliding caliper over the preferred (again IMO) fixed four piston caliper.

Saves a lot of time and money (IMO).

My dad wanted me to put disc on his 56 Sunliner. After much research I talked him out of it. I did put a manual Dual master. Rebuilt the drums all around. It stops great. I put disc on my 55 chevy several years ago and the drums on the 56 stop much better. JMO

That's a pretty car. Can't say I disagree with his plans for it. Nothing really that can't be undone and returned to stock.
Definitely agree with getting rid of the diving platform in the rear.
Hey, at least he's not planning a LS swap!
