Guys........The response for these distributors has been most impressive,
and I've managed to ship nearly 50 units. Of the original list of those interested all but 6 great Ford Barn folks have or will be receiving theirs. I intend to notify all 6. I'll be making another run later this year depending on the volume of work coming into the shop. Locally I've raided all the shelves and without swap meets my core distributor supply is kaput. Kudos to Mac VanPelt for rounding up 8BA dist gears...very high quality, the predrilled holes for the pin are actually on center. I do have some goodies coming from Jim Linder which I'm very much looking forward to. Many thanks, Charlie ny [email protected] 716 440 8952 |

Charlie, Is it any more difficult to do SBC Mallory "flattops" than the GM distributors? Don't tell anyone, but I've been buying all the complete ones I can find for less than $100.
(I don't have to worry about condensers, which seem to be missing most of the time.)

Denny, the Mallory flat top distributors are less costly for 2 reasons. #1 There is enough
stock on the shank of the Mallory to allow full machining of the upper 1.061 diameter which engages the upper portion of the Ford timing cover. With the Chevy there is is not enough stock up there so I machine the Chevy in that area and shrink a bushing on the upper shank to provide a full 1.061 dia to positively locate the distributor in the Ford cover. #2 the full size clamping pad I supply is easier to fab and attach. These 2 items add significant costs to the Chevy/8BA units, to me they are mandatory. Charlie ny |

If anyone has an SBC Mallory with the tach drive that you'd be willing to sell, I'd be really interested.

Charlie....I have 15-20 cores if you need some. The one you built for me last year works famously. Very pleased.
