I have misspoke on the cleaning effectiveness of Simple Green!
First of all...It works very well in desolving the hard crud on parts. HOWEVER...DO NOT LEAVE PART OR PARTS IN THIS STUFF FOR LONGER THAN 48 HOURS. Leaving parts in Simple Green for longer than 48 hours WILL REMOVE THE PAINT OR AT LEAST START TO LIFT IT UP FROM THE PART. Pluck |

i'd imagine if you left a part in any cleaning chemical for a decent amount of time it would start to saturate into the paint and cause it to lift. i almost always hand clean everything, unless im actually trying to strip something. I dont like waiting on stuff to clean itself.

Found this out about 4 years ago. Cleaning under a hood and detailing an engine compartment. A lot less than 48 hours to.

Try AWSOME, available at most $1 stores, looks like urine but has "magical" cleaning powers. FWIW

Simple Green might be a good paint remover if you can mix in some Ivory Flakes to thicken it up so it will hold to the part and not drip off.
I have never used it but I checked one supplier for price. Over $80/gal but under $70 for a 5 gallon pail of Simple Green, but about $20/gal for gel paint stripper. I guess I won't use it for paint remover. Except maybe by accident.....

Hmmmm... Maybe I saw their price wrong. This was an industrial supplier. I will have to check Walmart.

Industrial suppliers are always high priced....at least every time I've needed something they were. I use Purple Power cleaner and it's about $20 for a 2-1/2 gallon container at the local auto parts store.

I was doing the advertising and marketing for a Simple Green competitor and they (Simple Green) sales force pushed the safety issue regarding pets and landscaping. Salesman would actually open a sealed bottle of Simple Green and drink it! Very effective!
