Default Sliding rear pickup cab window in 1936

Was at a car show today in Ashland, KY., saw a very nice 36 pickup truck, it had a rear sliding glass window, did Ford make this or was it after market years later, looked as old as the truck, owner said it has always had the window, thanks Bruce

sliding rear windows were available as an option 1934-1939 . the 1940 up were different but were sliding rear window.
i have factory pictures of the early one
i also have an original in my 1937 pick-up.
bob drake has them as a reproduction in his catalog.

I have one in my 35 pickup. As I understand it, it was made for the large trucks. Maybe Lawson can tell us more. If you look real close you might see it in my post page picture. Chet/Ma.

It was available as an accessory on the 35-39 pickups and came as part of the package on the 36 Deluxe pickup.

Fred Landis in Forney, TX made the kits to put one in for years. Drake now sells them. I have one in my 37. You see originals for sale from time to time. Donald Buresh out in Wellington, KS had an original with the knob in his graveyard, but I have not seen or spoken with Don for a while.

I have just the inner metal surround, don't know if I will use it or not on my 41. Where does the water go? Think it might cause some rust issues.

the 40 is different fron the 34-39. drakes summer catalog had a picture of both.
also drake 34-39 does not show knobs however i have knobs on my original and the
sales book i have shows knobs.. on the early model the glass slide in a double channel felt from the outside in. the late model slide in a single channel felt and slide
from the middle to the outside. they butt together in the center when closed.
