What to have on board on a long tour

A few years back we did a trip in three modelA,s and an old Chev across Australia and back,between the four cars we did 65000klms,sum total of the problems were ,Camshaft nut came loose on one A,,another had a pinion bearing fail,this was self infliccted as he put a new ring and pinion in and used the old bearings before he left,
Last year four of us all in A,s did 30000klms between us,all towing campers ,only problem,a broken starter spring (12v)
