The caveat to adding more weight to the exhaust is that it puts more strain on the exhaust manifold. They tend to warp and slump over time without adding further weight. If they just had a forward support, they would be fine but Ford didn't make it that way.

I've posted a number of times how I overcome that. I use a spring, hose clamp and a piece of wire to connect the exhaust just in front of the muffler to the engine mount. I realise that is not for the show car but I drive mine (lots).

Do you use a heavy spring such as a brake spring. Sounds like a good idea i may try.

Yup, something like a brake spring. I am a bit of a horder so there is a tin of springs in the workshop. I just selected one that I thought would be about right. The tension can be set when you tie it to the muffler by playing with the length of the wire.
