Yeah, if I'm correct the oil pan should be gloss black. We might do that later. The intake was a thing. The original aluminum one was cracked so I 'borrowed' my brothers 59a's. We weren't sure if bear metal would be wise, as far as rust is concerned, so we also chose for green.

Looks good. I think you will need the longer version of fuel pump push rods when using the newer manifold. Check the hight at the base between the new and old.

Yep. Also 'borrowed' a new correct one.

i HATE TO SAY THIS, BUT!!! Add upthe cost of rebuilding this engine, before you spend a dime. Unless you plan on restoring this car to original condition, I suggest you find a 30/48 replacement. Even an 8BA block could be used as well as ALL the 39.
/48 parts will fit after you pug a few holes. I suggest this because more people know about them, more shops can machine them and last but not least, they are much cheaper

Well, being in Europe doesn't make it easier. I see running flatheads being offered in the US on a regular basis, Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. Not a lot here in Europe. So little alternatives.

We took a chance with this car and hoped the engine was in better shape, but it wasn't. Couldn't tell from the outside when we bought the car. You win some, you loose some. We were lucky it was a late '36 LB with a rebuildable block and crankshaft. The rest I was able to obtain fairly priced on my trips to the US.

No way back now, the engine is finished. It's a project with my dad, so we share the costs. We realize we'll never get back what we spent, but hey, it's a fun project. It will be a cool, technically sound 4 door Sedan with a patina look.

Sticking to stock mechanical brakes. Can't wait to finish it. The most fun part, the building, has started.

Nice gesture from the rebuilder to give us a bag full of cr@p that came out of the engine...

Yeah, that looks like the stuff that I was able to dig out of my 1937 21 stud block with the oil pan rail expansion plugs removed.
