Model "A" Goals For 2024
Regarding your Model "A", what goals do you set for yourself or do you recommend to other Model "A" enthusiasts.
I am suggesting to the members of my local club that: > Make your Model "A" roadworthy by March 1st; > Attend at least 6 local Model "A" club events driving your Model "A"; > Drive your Model "A" 1000 or more miles in 2024; > Help another club member with their Model "A".

Attempt to get the carb on my coupe dialed in for better performance. Too cold to work in the garage now. Have to wait till spring. It drives OK, but the idle isn’t right.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
Not so much Model A but closely related. I need to get my Garages cleaned up and organized. Things seem to be multiplying.
I have 4 transmissions now (not counting the one in the car. One rebuilt and one new. Flywheels, engines, torque tubes and drive shafts, stock heads. And all kinds of other 'Stuff'. After January I can start clearing out boxes of parts. That's when my reign as Vice President ends and I can get rid of a lot of the "Gifts" I have collected for our monthly Opportunity Drawing. Besides the car, I will replace the very flammable 3/32 thick wood paneling in my garage with fire resistant sheetrock. I am about 1/3 done hanging the sheetrock but then there is taping, mudding, sanding, and painting after that.
My plans for the car are to re spray the front fenders and replace the rubber pads between the body and the frame. Both require lifting the body up about 6 inches. I also plan lots of driving.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
I'll finish up the year with a cruise. Then the car is going into hibernation. I have a new seat that needs to get covered and installed. I have new brake parts that need to get installed - hopefully they will make braking more than a suggestion. And then there are that new pair of Strombergs and shopping for a head.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
Getting rid of the on/off electric switch for my 31 coupe fuel line. It was okay but now it is way too hot to touch and fails often, shutting the engine down at the $%^& times. Bypassed it and car runs great, so it's day in the vehicle is numbered.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
I'm in a club whenever I need help with things. I have always set yearly goals to get things done on my car, making a mental note when I think of or see any needed repairs or upgrades to accomplish when it goes into winter hibernation.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
Plan to install my new Classtique top and Aries muffler this winter. The summer of 2024 will be the cars first full season on the road since 1959 so I intend to drive and enjoy it as much as possible. Probably some bugs to work out once I start putting some miles on it. I know that the venturi in the carb has a piece broken out of it and I have new one for it but I hesitate to take the carb apart while it is working well. Also need to check the brakes. They work well but groan when applied. Maybe I need to chamfer the new linings. Comments?

My goal for 2024 is to find and purchase an original, mostly unrestored, never messed with, low mileage 45B coupe.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
My goal is to drive the 1,000 miles rally our club runs every other year, attend the National Model A Rally (about 2,500 round trip) and to attend the MAFCA rally in New Mexico. I won't be driving to that one!
It looks like 2024 will be only about a 5,000 miles year.

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024
Here's a tip to warm up a cold garage. You will need a running Model "A". Warmup the engine to operating temperature outside of the garage, then put the car into the garage and close the garage door. The heat from the engine will make the garage climate better tp work in.
