I've jumped to the modern age and carry a Ryobi battery operated pump. It gives you tire pressure and also the ability to maintain.

While it will not fit in your glovebox -- it has been acturate and reliable.

I might get one of these...never seen them. I just looked online and see there are 2 types. One is shaped like a drill and the other is a rectangular unit. Which one did you get?
