Now I know what I want for Christmas 2022. Really like the look of your car! Had overlooked this thread until this morning. Just bought my own FH last fall and been thinking about how to hotrod it. Period look, dual carbs, OD, nice rake. Before I hit the interstate though, I think I'll also add front disc brakes. That 3-second following rule learned in 1970's high school driver's ed has gone the way of the dodo bird. Now it's just a sign of weakness that means two more cars can squeeze in front of you. People assume everyone has 4-piston big brakes and can go from 70 to zero in 100'. |

You don't need discs, and you quite possibly don't realize everything ELSE that must be considered when installing disc brakes, other than the discs and calipers. Put some Boling Brothers' Bendix brakes on that thing and you have more brakes than you'll ever need with those SKINNY TIRES. Even when you can lock-up the tires, the size of the contact patch on the tires (determined by tire size) is going to determine how quickly you can stop. Once you've locked 'em up with decent drums & shoes, disks won't make you stop one inch sooner! Who could'a guessed? DD . |
