Back in the 50.s I had a model A 1930 coupe. with the trans in 3rd gear I could pull up the shift lever and move it all the way to the right. I now have a 1929 spots coupe and I can not do this. Were all Model A,s able to do this?

Yes.
The weaker the spring that holds the shift lever into the transmission top, the easier it is to do this. |

How much older are you? we tend to forget some losses as they come gradually. I was about to change headlight bulbs as I thought the light were too dim until I had cataract surgery.
