Mine was the original cloth covered harness. In the end I used modern red, green, white and black wire. I considered fusing individual circuits but the excess wiring held little benefit. Ended up with three main fuses only. Put all wires in black loom. It's amazing how basic the wiring is once all the nasty wiring was removed. Took the most part of a morning and afternoon to complete. There's about six inches of original wire running to the each of the cowl lights. It was in fine condition.
