My mother was a English teacher. But sometimes thought/idea can be more important. I'm a real bad speller and have to go back and fix sometimes. Punctuation is important. These two sentences are very different... I helped, jack, off a horse. Or.... I helped jack off a horse. Get your point across with some dignity.
