Well, that was before my time. I got out of high school in 1956 and went right into the GE apprentice course @ $1.37/hr. I was rich! Had a 39 Plymouth coupe and worked part time at a garage that had wreckers. We would drain the gas tanks for our cars from the wrecks so never had to buy gas. We had a long gutter on a slope so when we did oil changes we put the cans on it to drain. So we had free oil also and needed a lot of it. I guess you would call that multiple viscosity oil
. But those were fun days and we had several drive in diners and movies. Oh did I have fun with my girlfriend (now my wife of 55 years). She would snuggle up to me in the 39. Oh, those floor shifts into 3rd gear were great .John Last edited by oldford2; 06-23-2015 at 08:13 PM. |
