Flywheel Questions
I just got my flywheel/pressure plate assembly, for my '51 Merc engine, balanced. On re-assembly had a hard time getting the flywheel to seat on the crank.
First question is should it go on by hand or are the pins tight fitting? A rubber mallet wouldn't work. I tried for over an hour. Went on most of the way but wouldn't seat. Had to use the bolts to draw it in the last little bit.
Second. Checked out the flywheel face run-out after it was bolted on and with PP, and it was .010. That was about an 1/8" from the outer edge. I'm thinking that may be borderline or over allowable. Any opinions on that?
BTW, the engine is out of my AV8. Only has a few running hours but had a vibration at about 1200 rpm that made me pull it. Checked it with no belts on and was the same. Pushed in the clutch pedal and was the same. Hoping that this balancing cures it.
