There are two ways to reduce the size of a picture. One is to "crop" it. That's like taking a pair of scissors to a print. This way, the resolution is kept high for what's left of the picture. The other way is to keep the entire picture, but alter the pixel count. This loses detail when the picture is "blown up." You might want to try a combination. Crop out what you don't want to show in the picture and then, if the pixel count is still too high, adjust the count down to get a satisfactory image that will upload.
