Herb, if ¼ of the price is $4,700, that would be almost $19,000 for paint job. If all I have to do is some bodywork and the paint, and have it match the quality that you would getting from MAACO, then I as a restoration shop can compete with MAACO's numbers.

My personal experience in the past with this MAACO level is when the customer is ready to come inspect the MAACO level of quality, they start nit-picking and comparing it to other cars in the shop that are straighter (hand sanded), have better fits, and are slicker because they have colorsanded and rubbed out. If it takes an extra 40 hours of work to shrink out the dents (in lieu of Bondo) and to hand block-sand the primer instead of using an air-powered DA sander, ...and another 40 hours to colorsand the paint and buff it to a high lustre, then they likely would have had the same quality as what those other cars did. My customers always drove away saying they were happy with that level of quality and the value they received, but deep down I was never convinced.

Mr. Huseby, I truly like your response and the clear explanations.
