Default MAFFI Parts Index Abbreviation

I have been perusing the MAFFI “Parts Index” and am very grateful to the many folks who have given their time and energy to make this project available. However, I do not find a ‘legend’ of the abbreviations … so will embarrassingly ask for the definition of the “AF/AAF” prefix. Am comfortable the "A" is for vehicle; "AA" for commercial ... may I assume the “F” is for ‘foreign’ production (i.e. right hand drive vehicles)?

Can someone plz explain just what the "EI" represents ... would this be the same as the 'blueprint' with the box with change/revision dates in its corner? Can one directly deduce anything about the 'change date' of a part/revision from the date on these documents? Obviously, since there seem to be many "EIs" for each of the various parts i am researching, one cannot afford ($$) to purchase copies of all.
