Stepney wheel
Has anyone seen a Stepney Spare Wheel? These were invented in 1904 in Wales. The idea was that you clamped the spare to the non-demountable rim with a flat tire. The company did very well until the adoption of demountable rims.
I would like to find one of these if anyone has one available. There were some with 2 wing nuts that fit cars with the same sized wheels front & back. The one pictured would fit a Ford with larger rear tires. |
