Am I asking for trouble

In the process of replacing my fan I was thinking about changing the 4 studs for the water pump to the new bolts that look original. They say you can remove the pump without removing the radiator. My big question is how hard is it to remove the four studs? Sometimes I hate to mess with something that isn't broke. What would you guys do? Thanks again Ron
