Default Please clarify a few items on the 38 Standard for me

You would think after owning one for over 40 years I would know these answers but
1. Some of the 38 Standards have additional trim on the font end and other do not. I ASSumed over the years if may have been due to the 60 vs 85 HP versions but have read there may have been other reasons?

2. Some have claimed 38 Standard front ends will interchange with 37's. I was always under the impression the the 38 Standard was a "bastard" year with respect to the front sheetmetal meaning it was a 1 year 1 model only .
Thanks 🍻
