when i worked for the local cadillac dealer we repaired pretty much all the small leaking gas tanks in shop we had a very large soldering iron it had a copper tip on it about 2 inches wide you would have to plug it in about 15 minutes before it got hot but we’d prep the tank and acid core solder to fill in the whole you could do it with the gas in the tank if it leaked in the back we’d jack up the car in the back let the gas go to the other end i guess the poor cadillac owners couldn’t afford a new tank
