Default Revised Builders Guide

The revised Builders Guide can be found at www.modelaengine.com

The guide is written for the new engine, but many parts of the guide apply to original engines being rebuilt.

There is a detailed Table of Contents that will make things easier to find.

If you will have someone else assemble your new engine, there is a list of questions with answers near the end of Section 1 that you need to discuss while interviewing your builder.

In Section 2, details of what to do before and after cleaning are specified.

In Section 3, there is an explanation of why Plastigage is required to measure bearing insert/journal clearance instead of bore gauges and micrometers. Section 3 also recommends preferred parts.

Several people have asked for an assembly sequence. The easy assembly sequence is in Section 7, and the use of the special tools is recommended. If the special tools are used, assembly will be fast, O-rings won't be cut, and the rear main seal won't be damaged upon installation.

Section 8 defines our warranty for the parts that we manufacture, and states that we are not responsible for any modifications to our parts. Section 8 also includes modifications made by builders who get creative and refuse to follow the Builders Guide. These creative builders have been removed from Section 15.

If you have a problem with a builder in Section 15, or can recommend a builder not in Section 15, please let me know so I can make a change in the next revision of the New Engine Builders Guide.

If you find an error in the Builders Guide, or want something changed, please contact me at [email protected]

The Builders Guide is a Microsoft document and may not display correctly on Apple computers. If so, please let me know.
