I am selling the toy I grew up with, learned how to drive it when I was eleven years old and finally restored it a few years ago. The undercarriage was produced by HILCO MANUFACTURING of St. Cloud, Minnesota, in the late 1930s, where they built a ready-to-drive snowmobile called a HILCO AUTOSLED. For guys wanting something that was less expensive, they could purchase the running gear and could custom make their own body. Mine belonged to and was purchased from a mail carrier in Walker, Minnesota, in 1948. It spent several winters pulling the family members on skis and sleds on a frozen lake but finally quit running. It was either junk it or restore it, so I took on the project. The original motor needed to be replaced, and a good replacement was rebuilt by a machine shop in Minneapolis. I have kept it as original Model A Ford as possible. I have shown it at several car shows, and it has always been a hit winning several trophies as well as cash.
It has a new battery, starts right up and is ready for some winter fun! Price is $24,500 and is located in northern Minnesota. Pictures can be seen by clicking on my avatar and going to my photo album. I would be happy to answer questions about my snowmobile. Last edited by MNFATS; 09-14-2025 at 09:00 PM. |
