Default 1941 FORD Starter Solenoid

Hello Ford Barn:

I need some help with my 1941 Ford flat -head V/8. I need to know when a starter solenoid is not working, and how to check it out to know when it is bad. And how to go across what terminals to jump it to get it in the circuit?. All help will be appreciated .
