Mike's A-Fordable oil filter dilemma...HELP!!!
This is a new and completely unexpected problem for me! I have two Model A motors, both with a Mike's A-Fordable oil filtration system. They are the horizontal style from the valve cover. One is about 18 years old, while the other is two years old. I removed both and decided to put the older one on my new motor. BUT....when I tried to install the usual oil filter, I discovered to my horror that these covers have TWO different sized threaded inlet pipes!!! The older one has a one inch diameter, the newer one has about a 3/4" inlet size. Naturally, the filter for the older system is long gone, so I can't pull a reference number from it to buy the correct size filter. The filter I bought yesterday will not fit because it is too small in the inlet area. See attached photos to judge the different size threaded inlet pipes. The older valve cover with its 1" pipe is on the left, installed and NOT going to be swapped back! The newer system with the 3/4" threaded pipe is on right.
This normally wouldn't be a problem, but all this week my wife is visiting friends in Wisconsin and has the family car. I have been riding Shank's Mare (WALKING 10-15 miles per day) since Sunday in this LOVELY 95 degree comfort factor weather here in HUMID southeastern Iowa. I walked five miles to and from the car parts place yesterday for this incorrect filter, and will have to do the same tomorrow to get the proper sized one. I don't relish going all that way, only to have the dipsh*t kid behind the counter tell me he can't help unless I have the part number. I am under the gun to finish the car in time for Saturday's Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival activities. People are depending upon me to show up! So...can someone PLEASE supply a brand and/or part number for an oil filter with a ONE INCH threaded inlet? Thanks in advance.
Marshall
P.S. Why in the world did Mike's make such a change anyhow????
