Default Rubber gaskets for 35 not made right

I think I would faint if I ever found a rubber gasket that fit right. I’m talking about the ones with the lip around the outer edge like on the trunk handle and taillight stands. They are all to small. The part will not fit inside the outer edge. They just lay on top of it. Why have the outer edge at all. May as well just make it flat. The trunk handle gasket came from carpenters and the taillight from Macs.
