Default stuck in forward gear?

First off the bat I'm working on a 23 TT with a 26/7 transmission. When I step on the starter it will not turn the engine fast enough to start but simply wants to push the truck forward. I adjusted the bands very loose to eliminate that possibility so I'm thinking to maybe adjust the clutch fingers at the tail side of the transmission. Does this sound right or am I just pissing in the wind?

The best thing to do before adjusting too many things would be to securely block up the rear axle so the wheels can turn free. It then may start with the wheels turning. Pull the hand brake half way back(neutral) & let it run. the clutch may clear itself & free up, revving it up and down will encourage this.

Thanks Jack. I just read something similar on another T site. I'm goin to try to step on the low speed pedal while running and see if it comes loose and then try the brake.

I would pull the band plate and see, if when the leaver is half way back, if the three fingers are loose and not still tight to the thruse collar. You may have to adjust the bolt.

If the clutch plates are stuck, be carefull, as you will be putting a lot of stress on the triple gears.
