Is the frame stamping exactly like the engine stamping with all the stars letters and numbers? I never looked for a number when I had my bodys off the frames!

The two previous A's I've had were rusty enough that frame number was not legible at all. Haven't checked my '31 pick up frame and may never do so. If one changes the engine in their A, which now will disrupt registration & title paperwork, buy one of those $3. brass body number tags from parts vendor and stamp in the old engine number and attach the tag to the firewall. That is your new vehicle number I.D. tag. OR, you could ask your registry officials what they would want you to do. DUHHH...

When we pulled the body off dads TS, we looked for the frame stamping and saw it matched the engine number and SD title. As far as we could tell, we were the first to have the body off.
