I once had a glimpse into the prep area of a used car lot and there was a shelf of all the little things found by the lot boy who cleaned out the cars.
Most of the things he kept were kids toys match box cars but I'm sure you guys have more interesting stories. |

1) Parts car towed to my shop, messed around with it for at least half hour to an hour, finally went around back and popped open the trunk to find a mother rat with her babies sitting on top of the spare tire.
2) different parts car towed in, opened the trunk and found 1/2 dozen blasting caps. Called the local police and they called the Sheriff's bomb squad. 3) pulled the cover off a car behind the shop and stuck my head in thru the window to look at the dash knobs...and was greeted by a raccoon staring at me from the passenger seat.. how's that for starters?

Thought it was a dead animal but was the remnants of a button on fur collar (probably rabbit). Strange as my uncle drove this car in. The 70's.

This was a good find... Door panel was off to repair the latch on my '38. Found a thick paper gasoline credit account card and a "Beard-Mustache-Top Hat" For Mayor (Alameda CA) political ticket, both from 1938!

I was replacing the carpet in our 1965 GTO convertible,
when I removed the driver's seat I found a marijuana joint, a bunch of Bobby pins, a tube of bright pink lipstick, and many buttons off of girls' blouse's. The original owner was quite the ladies' man I suppose. Bob-Hampshire, Il. |

My neighbor owned a used car lot, he filled his tool box with a complete set of tools that he found in trunks, the rusty Craftsman tools went back to Sears and were replaced with new ones under the lifetime warranty.

My dad had a cougar he bought a school teacher friend of my Mom's. About a year later he decided to clean it out an pulled the rear seat and found a revolver. Turns out the friend had bought it from a rental car agency....at least that is what she told us.....
Neatest thing I found personally was a license from the 1940's |

I found some bullet holes in my Tudor when I had it soda-blasted, and when I took the original seats apart found one of the slugs.

Not a project but we have a 51 buick that is a rattle snake hotel. I guess the sun through the windows is nice for them. You can go look around sunset and there is allways 3 or 4 in the car,

I had a 62 Ford convert when I was 16, bought well used. After useing it for a couple months I was cleaning out the trunk, had the mat rolled back, when my Dad walked by and glanced in he spotted something I had overlooked, a pack of condoms hid in the corner. Really they were not mine!
