Money found in cars

I found a 1916 Peso under the front seat of my dad's 1953 Chevy right after he brought the car home from the dealership when I was 12 years old. I just turned 70
yesterday and I still have it------the peso, that is!

When I took apart my 39 ford pickup I found about 2/3 of a pencil that said Benjamin Franklin High School. This truck came from Northern Illinois, south of Chicago. Sharpened it up and works great! I didn't find anything in my Model A.

I found a 1916S Dime under the seat of an old tudor we were salvaging parts. Wish it was a 1916D.

When I took the the inside panel under the quarter window out of my 1929 special coupe, i found bolted to the under side of the post wood, a hotel room key and tag that was made out of leather and had been there for a long time, it was actually bolted under one of the square nuts. On the hotel key tag it say milner hotel 502 norfolk virgina. I have found little information about the milner hotel but did find out that when it was built it was a luxury hotel back in the 1900's.

Makes you think what as so special to keep that hotel key?

A few years back I was working on the heater, up behind the dash of a 20 yr old car.
Out tumbled a roll of bills with an elastic band encircling them.
Seems it was about $400xx
When I told the owner, there was a long pause......then he "sorta recalled" putting it there. He wasn't that old and I really think the money was left by a past owner.
Good thing was, he paid his bill and still had change!

About 7 or 8years ago, we bought a 1934 Ford Roadster from the Bonhams auction in Brookline, Mass. The car was originally sold in South Africa (Right Hand Drive). It was a very old and tired cosmetic restoration that was probably done in South Africa long before it got sold and shipped to the US. While we don't know when the car came into the US, it went through the hands of a few US dealers and at least one other US auction before we bought it. The top was folded down and had been down for a long time and looked ragged. Obviously none of the other dealers wanted to expose the ragged top so it had been kept folded with a boot on it. When we got the car, we put the top up. A couple of days later, when we were cleaning the car, we noticed a brown/tan envelope slipped in between the cloth wrapped top bow and the top material (which were virtually the same tan/brown color as the envelope). When we opened the envelope, we found 15,000.00 in South African dollars. A quick internet check proved that these South African dollars were still current currency and a trip to the local currency exchange at the Detroit airport allowed us to exchange the money into US dollars which converted over to about 600.00 US. Ironically, after driving the car about 20 miles, the engine lost oil pressure and developed a bad knock, so the 600.00 was applied toward the engine rebuild.

I found an old time cigarette lighter that was rattling around in the gas tank of my 28 Roadster! I often wondered if some dumb a** was looking inside for gas! I also wonder if there was any......

i found a lot of chicken crap.....But there's a saying ..you always seem to step in crap. which is a good thing..So car was straight and just about rust free

In a rear door pocket of my '29 Town Sedan I found a box of "Nurse Brand cold capsules. An aid in relieving minor discomforts associated with colds"
Still has some tablets left in it!

40 yrs ago I bought a used Renault Dauphine for $50. In cleaning it up I removed the drivers side floor mat and found a crisp $100 bill. Being young and naive at the time, I returned it to the guy I got the car from. At least I felt good at the time for returning it.
Haven't found any treasures in my 29 Truck though (yet anyway).
